Creature Comforts Pet Lodge opened in March 2003 by Irene Bessem and Sonja Bright as a superior boarding facility for cats, dogs and small domestic pets. Irene and Sonja also ran the Greyhound adoptions for Greyhounds as Pets here for many years.

Creature Comforts Pet Lodge is now owned and operated by the Hucker family, since June 2014.

Nicola was born in Palmerston North and had lived there most of her life. She graduated from Massey University with the Diploma of Veterinary Nursing, with distinction, in 2004. Since then she has also completed Massey's Canine Health and Husbandry paper, extramurally while working for over 10 years as Kennel Manager, looking after Massey University's dogs. Her passion at work has always been for the care and welfare of the dogs having been involved extensively in their husbandry, pregnancies and whelpings. Even before studying Vet Nursing, Nicola has always wanted to own her own boarding kennels.

Gavin was originally from Stratford, Taranaki but due to family and work has spent most of his life in Palmerston North. He has spent most of his working life in the Army and has over 30 years under his belt, where he originally trained as a carpenter. You will undoubtedly see and hear him about the place, as he puts his carpentry and project management skills into practise! Gavin will be at times helping with looking after your pets too.

Our facility is recommended by local veterinarians and the steady growth in clientele since opening the doors in 2003 is evidence of the firm commitment to providing the quality care and attention.
